COMFORT SUITES PORTS OF CALL RESORT

June 2009
Tanya & Family (baby 11mos)

I recently stayed at the Comfort Suites with my husband and my 11 month old. I had read quite a few online reviews and was somewhat apprehensive as it was a 3 star and more a hotel than a resort.

On checking in, there was no bellman to help. As we travelled with our infant daughter, we had packed heavy and my husband had to do a few trips to haul our things to our room as the ‘helpful’ staff did not make a cart available to us.

Our chief complaint with the hotel was the incredibly rude staff at the front desk, save one lady named Kendra, who was a sweetheart.

One of the front desk ladies (and I wish I had gotten her name) even went so far as to give us incorrect directions when we were trying to find the Salt Mills Plaza. They could not be asked for directions or information on excursions.

The hotel is not in very good shape and the exterior stucco is falling off toward the back of the hotel by the parking lot. Our room had a broken fan in the bathroom and some of the baseboards were coming off. Our tub hardly drained. We reported it as a maintenance concern on our second day there and no one fixed it the whole week we were there. Our bathtub was in rough shape and the area around the drain was extensively rusted.

The only good thing about this hotel is that the price was right and it is located in a great spot, close to a grocery store and the Ports of Call shopping/restaurant complex.

The beach spot allocated to the Comfort Suites on Grace Bay beach is actually quite dirty. They only clean the large items like empty bottles, but the area of beach was often littered with cigarette butts and bottle caps.
