Ahoy, Mickey

A cruise ship is essentially a floating resort, often with wonderful ports-of-call in the Caribbean and now pretty much everywhere else! Disney Cruise Line is probably the first that comes to mind when thinking of the best cruises for kids, but most cruise lines are offering amenities for those who wish to cruise with a baby or toddler.

Cruise lines are coming on board with family amenities, like Marella Cruises. But even a Disney Cruise requires some forethought and planning before you board. Have Baby Will Travel‘s Cruising section now offers tips, advice, and first-hand trip reports from families who’ve cruised with their babies, toddlers, and young children. Cruise Lines are listed alphabetically, and ships from each fleet listed alphabetically under each line.

Disney Cruise Line:

The Disney Dream – (coming soon!)

The Disney Fantasy – Before her maiden voyage on March 31, 2012, Have Baby Will Travel was invited on an exclusive Disney Fantasy Magical Preview Cruise. Read all about our experience on the Disney Fantasy, and check out our more in-depth coverage on some of the amenities and attractions on  board.

Disney Fantasy- It’s A Small World Nursery – Baby Clubs and baby sitting at resorts and on cruises can have limited hours and be crazy expensive. Not so with the Small World Nursery, which is open from 7am – 11pm and is a reasonable $6.00 an hour.

Disney Fantasy – Oceaneer Club & Oceaneer Lab – Kids clubs and children’s activities at resorts and on cruises differ wildly in quality and sometimes cost extra. The Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab on the Disney Fantasy is probably the  most awesome I’ve seen for kids 3-12, and is included in your cruise fare. My daughter concurs.

Baby Friendly Disney – Castaway Cay – Disney’s private island in the Bahamas is a wonderful, lazy, beach day to spend enjoying the sand and water with your family. And because it’s Disney, it’s accessible and baby friendly…

The Disney Magic (coming soon!)
