At Playa Pilar... Cayo Guillermo, Cuba

Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo are in the agricultural province of Ciego de Avila, whose red clay soil is the most productive in the country. The provincial capital of the same name is surrounded by pineapple farms, and has the area’s main airport. Today, a 27-kilometre causeway connects the mainland to the keys, which are rapidly becoming one of the Caribbean’s most popular spots. The islands are part of Cuba’s northern coral reef, which yields spectacular snorkeling and diving.

No Cubans live on Cayo Coco or Cayo Guillermo, they are strictly hotel zones. The closest town is Morón, which is about 45 minutes away by taxi, and an excellent day trip. At the farthest tip of Cayo Guillermo is Playa Pilar, which is a fantastic public beach and a great little escape from resort life.

Currently, Have Baby Will Travel has 10 Trip Reports for the Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo region of Cuba. The hotels are listed alphabetically, and the most recent reports for each resort will appear first.  Each trip report has been provided to Have Baby Will Travel with the hope of giving other parents a clearer picture of what to expect when traveling to Cuba with a baby or toddler.

We also have a detailed Cuba destination page, and many find our Fast Facts For Families page on Cuba most helpful.
