Yes we’re doing it – we’re taking a not-quite-3-year-old in full-on potty training mode to see “The Mouse”. Although, it’s really Cinderella that’s going to make her lose her s*@t. We might be nuts, or we might witness a toddler faint from sheer excitement & joy…
We have family in Florida, and were planning to visit regardless. Had we not been under 2hrs away, I’d definitely not even think about Disney until she was at least 6. But the introduction to Cinderella, and the subsequent million or so viewings, has made me want to see just how she’ll react to seeing the castle in person. Plus, our few small amusement park visits this past summer displayed to us a roller coaster fanatic in the making, so I know she’ll enjoy the teacup and the Dumbo rides. And just thinking about the “It’s A Small World” ride brings tears to my eyes, so I kinda want to go for me too.
Fortunately my very good friend Sandra (www.clickthemouse.ca) is a bonafide Disney expert. She’s been over 30 times and actually is the one who convinced me that taking a still-napping toddler to Disney World is totally doable. I’m having lunch with her this week. I’m totally taking notes.
I’m grateful to have a Disney expert in my corner. Now I need a potty training one. Has anyone gone traveling with a tot not fully potty trained? Any tips?

Hi,
We are heading to the Dominican in Dec and we were in the same potty training issue. How are we going to go away with a potty training toddler. So I decided that I would spend 2 full days at home with her and not go anywhere so we could really focus on it. Well it worked. We made a deal with our daughter that we all shook on.(she thought that was fun) that she could wear diapers at night but big girl underwear during the day. It took 2 days of lots of accidents and then on the third day it clicked and we have had no accidents in over a week.
Just an idea if you are able to try this before you leave. We do travel long distances though during the week sometimes so we put a pull up on for just in case and she seems to understand this.
But I will say you will be in all the bathrooms Disney has to offer.
Good luck!
Thanks Marisa!
My washroom-finding skills are becoming very honed – and my Disney expert friend informed me about the special baby (and toddler) care centres that are throughout each park. Apparently they have little toilets!
Congrats on going an accident-free week! We’re close, just not quite there…
